My maternal great grandmother, Agnes Purdie, was married to William Grant, General Practitioner in Blantyre.
Her father, Thomas Purdie who, in the census records, was a Dairyman or, in the Valuation Rolls, a Milk Dealer with the business in Bellgrove Street, Glasgow. The business was taken over by his daughter Jeanie on his death in 1907
Thomas’s father James was a farmer firstly and by 1851 he was a Dairy Man
